Sidney, MT – Planning is underway for the 2nd Annual Ribbon Walk event. The first annual Ribbon Walk was a success raising more than $72,000 for local cancer services. This fundraising event is put on by community volunteers, members of the local Cancer Coalition and the Foundation for Community Care. The focus of the event is to raise funds keeping the BEST cancer care close to home. This year's event will be held June 19, 2015 at the Sidney High School Track starting at 5:00 PM.
The Ribbon Walk raises money to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones who have been lost, and help to ensure the continuance and quality of cancer care services for our community. Individuals are encouraged to form a team, participate in the Ribbon Walk, and make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
"We had a fantastic turnout for the first Ribbon Walk held last year," stated Toni Zieske, Ribbon Walk committee member. "Our goal is to continue to increase participation each year and be able to contribute to the cancer services in the area."
All proceeds from this event will benefit the Richland County Cancer Coalition and Sidney Health Center's Cancer Care Center through the Foundation for Community Care. The Cancer Coalition offers assistance to individuals with a cancer diagnosis with non-medical household expenses; while the Cancer Care Center provides the latest and most up to date medical equipment and programs.
"Working with the Foundation for Community Care allows us to ensure that 100% of the proceeds raised are available to Sidney Health Center Cancer Care and the Richland County Cancer Coalition to directly impact the needs of those affected by cancer," continued Zieske. "No overhead costs are taken from the donation."
