Once again, the Lower Yellowstone Irrigation Project (LYIP) is in dire need of community support.
The US Army Corps of Engineers is allowing public comment on the proposed concrete weir and fish bypass at Intake. A copy of the public notice is available at http://www.nwo.usace.army.mil/Missions/RegulatoryProgram/Montana.aspx. Support for the project, which will protect the economic vitality of the entire area, is critical. The loss of LYIP would be devastating to the entire valley from Glendive to Williston, and have ripple effects around the country.
Due to increased publicity from the latest lawsuits, it is extremely important to send in letters of support for the project.
