Bev and Doug Danielson's Rural Home

Wow! is the first reaction when you enter Bev and Doug Danielson's rural home east of Fairview. A custom designed pantry wall is the first thing you see, followed by the hammered copper range hood, which is the focal point of a new kitchen.

Danielson's kitchen is part of the original home built by Doug's grandfather Axle in 1947. Remodeling presented challenges. However, with the expert design skills of Brenda Larson at Creative Solutions and master carpentry by Jesse Thom, Danielson's now have a modern, efficient, beautiful kitchen.

The copper range hood from Mountain Copper Creations in Missoula set the tone for the remodel. The cabinetry is knotty alder with Bella door style in clove with black accent, and includes the pantry wall as well as a matching dining room hutch and buffet with feet. Larson custom designed the pantry with drawers and doors and multiple configurations of shelving to accommodate anything Bev and Doug wish to store.

Countertops and the special eating bar, with storage, are Canterbury Quartz with copper flecks. An e granite under mount sink from Elkay completes the smooth look and oil rubbed bronze accents provide a warm touch. The cabinets, countertop and interior doors and trim were all purchased from Creative Solutions.

The backsplash tile from Johnson Hardware and Furniture was skillfully done by Oscar Noriega who also created the TV alcove by the eating bar. The Karndean flooring from Chad's Furniture is attractive and easy to care for. The gleaming stainless steel appliances were purchased from PATH. Bev is looking forward to using the pot filler conveniently located on the wall behind the stove during canning season.

The new dining room set is from the Amish Gallery at Home of Economy. Paint was purchased at Johnson Hardware and Furniture and B&B Electric of Fairview did all the electrical work.

Bev is delighted with her new kitchen. "We're really happy with the quality and workmanship. Thom and Noriega are masters, and Brenda is fantastic to work with," she said. Her favorite aspects are the copper range hood, the self closing doors on the cabinets, and the countertops. I love the quartz," she said. "It's great for rolling out pie crust and it's easy to keep clean."

Larson enjoyed the challenge of designing the pantry wall and the kitchen. "That's the most fun for me, to take an existing space and see what you can do with it."
