The Free Store at the Lonsdale United Methodist Church in Sidney, MT is taking donations for their Prom-drive, a second year event where those with a need for prom attire can come and shop for free. Items such as prom dresses, tuxedos, shoes, purses, hair accessories, and specialty undergarments such as strapless corsets will be made available and there are no income requirements.
“If you need a prom dress or tuxedo, come and get one,” said Reverend Vicki Waddington who discussed the limited availability of formal wear in town. With cost being a factor for some families, traveling to purchase items for Prom can also be an inconvenience.
Saturday, March 14 the Free Store will hold a shopping day specifically for those who are looking for prom attire from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm; dresses and tuxedos will be displayed in the church parlor. All items may be tried on to insure proper fit and all clothing and accessories can be donated back to the Free Store to be offered as Spring Fling attire or for next year’s Prom-Drive.
The Free Store is requesting that all donations be in to them by March 13 so that items can be displayed. The church office is open from 9:00am to 12:00pm Monday through Friday and donations can be dropped off at the back door; there is a coat rack just inside 0n which clothing can be hung. The Free Store is also taking donated gift certificates from individuals and businesses for hair, nails and dinner and these will be given out based on availability. The Free Store is looking to borrow a full length mirror for their specialty shopping day on March 14. Anyone looking for more information on donating or anyone interested in volunteering their time during the Prom-Drive shopping event can call the church office at 406-433-3110.
