Camp Mak-A-Dream, located in Gold Creek Montana, will be recognized for its 20th Anniversary in 2015, by the Montana Legislature on March 6, 2015 in the House Chambers with a Joint Proclamation of the Montana Legislature.
A JOINT PROCLAMATION OF THE Montana LEGISLATURE
WHEREAS, Since opening its doors in Gold Creek, Montana in 1995, Camp Mak-A-Dream has provided a “Montana Experience” to children and adults diagnosed with cancer and their families; and
WHEREAS, Camp Mak-A-Dream has strong partnerships with hospitals across the Country including
St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Cook Children’s Medical Center and Hershey Medical Center, among others; and
WHEREAS, Camp Mak-A-Dream has served over 6,000 participants from 49 states and 8 foreign countries with 11 camp and retreat programs per year, with 50 campers each session; and
WHEREAS, Camp Mak-A-Dream is one of only a few oncology camps that serves a national and international population who are currently in the midst of treatment;
WHEREAS, Since 1998, 100 campers, volunteers and staff have the opportunity each year to
participate in the Shooting Star float trip down the Clark Fork, Missouri or Blackfoot rivers, founded
by Chuck Mazurek and funded by individuals and businesses in the Butte, Helena, Great Falls and Missoula areas; and
WHEREAS; 2015 marks the 20-year anniversary of Camp Mak-A-Dream, complete with a Health Center facility and a new Wellness Center; and
THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Legislature of the State of Montana recognizes and commends Camp Mak-A-Dream for their kindness, care and compassion in enhancing the lives of cancer patients by fulfilling their “dream” with a memorable Montana Experience for the past 20 years.
