The only thing that stays constant is change. The Richland County Steering Committee recognizes that change is happening all around our community, and wants to start a discussion about it through a project called Photovoice.
Photovoice is a project that uses photography as a method to explore different points of view through pictures, which then become the basis for group discussion of community issues and concerns.
The Steering Committee is asking community members of Richland County to use their Photovoice by participating in this project. The question they would like to ask is, “What does change look like to you in Richland County?”
Your role would be to think about what change looks like from your perspective, whether it be positive or negative. You would then take a picture, and come up with a short 2-3 sentence description about why the picture represents change to you.
The MonDak Heritage Center is serving as the drop-off location for the pictures, which need to be turned in by March 6, 2015. You can also email your photos to [email protected]. The goal is to get a photo gallery of many different pictures of “change” and present them at the Richland County Community Conference, which is set for March 20, 2015.
This project is open to community members of all ages, or different groups and organizations can also participate. For questions or more information about the Photovoice Project, contact Nicole Hackley at (406) 433-4097.
