Sidney High School Speech and Drama travelled to Laurel this past weekend. Competing against 19 schools from across the state. The Drama team finished in 2nd place in class A Sweeps and the Speech team finished in 3rd place in class A Sweeps.
Speech coach Gail Staffanson's impromptu competitors finished in 1st and 2nd place! Leading the Speech team was senior Christian Angelsey who competed in Impromptu finishing 1st and Humorous Oral Interpretation finishing in 2nd place. Kasey Gorder competed in Impromptu finishing 2nd. Danny Johnson competed in Extemp finishing in 3rd place and in Original Oratory also placing 3rd. Zach Sommerfeld competed in Extemp placing 7th. Johren Carpenter placed 7th in Memorized Public Address and Shelby Reidle competed in MPA.
Christy Pierce's Drama team held their own with the whole team making it to finals. Classical Duo: Kyle Topp & Scottlynn Anglesey placed 3rd. Kaitlyn Tibbits & Micheal Stevens placed 8th. Serious Duo: Taylor Thiesssen & Mark LaPan placed 4th. Jaz Hodge & Laura Elmore placed 6th. Humorous Duo: Tessa Hill & Tess Ler placed 4th. Sarah Turek & Camden Berka placed 6th. The team heads to Huntley Project next weekend.
