Watford City Celebrates Its 100th Year This Weekend

The City of Watford City will be celebrating its 100th year this weekend.

Our Centennial festivities begin on Thursday, June 26 with a dedication of our new Centennial Park and end on Sunday, June 29th with a non-denominational church service.

The highlight of this event is our two day Centennial Festival which is set among the trees and along the creek of the City Park and McKenzie County Fairgrounds. Vendors will be able to display their product throughout the festival.

Our Festival Main Stage Events include: Native American Dancers, Baby Pageant, Magic Keith, Music with Jeff Nelson, Medora’s Burning Hills Cloggers, Blake Krabbseth Magician, Merrill Piepkorn & the Radio Stars/Old Time Music. We are featuring musical acts of Quintana Biffert, The Taylors and The Dwaylors, Tom Brosseau, Mr. Feelgood and the Firm Believers, Whiskey Rebellion, Six Appeal, Tigirlily and 32 Below.

Along with these Main Stage Events, we are including Jumping Castle & Games, Clowns, Face Painting, Balloons, Hands-On Interactive Games for the Kids and are having our own film festival featuring local films: 6 Brothers, Cowboys & Crude and Small Town Soldiers.

The excitement doesn’t stop here; we will be having events throughout the city - Centennial Parade down Main Street; All School Reunion at the High School; Trish Gravos Memorial Golf Scramble and Steak Fry at the Fox Hills Golf & Country Club; Threshing Demonstration at Heritage Park and a rousing Alumni Baseball Game at Legion Park.

We are expecting to have 5,000 attendees at our Centennial Celebration.
