The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to overlay about 8.6 miles and widen portions of Montana Highway 16, near Savage, MT in Richland County. The project begins south of Savage, at reference post 28.9 and extends north for approximately 8.6 miles ending near a canal bridge at reference post 37.5.
Proposed work includes widening for passing lanes on the northern portion of the project, the addition of left-turn lanes at County Road 110 (beet dump), shoulder widening through Savage, a plant mix overlay, and finishing with a seal & cover (chip seal), upgraded pavement marking, rumble strips, signage and guardrail.
The project is tentatively scheduled for construction on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. New right-of-way may be needed; however, relocation of utilities will be required.
