Applications are being accepted for Montana Department of Agriculture grants and loans to provide economic assistance to agricultural producers, businesses, public and private organizations, educational institutions and local governments. To be eligible, entities must enter into activities that add value to Montana’s agricultural commodities, expand markets and increase financial returns to the state.
“This grant and loan opportunity will promote business expansion and entrepreneurship by helping these businesses get much needed access to capital to create new jobs and expand markets for their products and services.” said David Tyler, Chairman of the Montana Agricultural Development Council.
The Agriculture Development Council designated the following areas for potential growth, eligible for zero percent interest rate loans:
Malting production projects; Irrigation projects that serve multiple agricultural users; or
Businesses transitioning beyond direct sales/farmers markets.
The funding is being made available through the state’s Growth Through Agriculture (GTA) Program. The mission of GTA is to strengthen and diversify Montana’s agricultural products and processes to add value to the agriculture industry, create new jobs and expand small business opportunities.
The Agriculture Development Council, which consists of representatives from agriculture and government, reviews and selects successful applicants for GTA grants and loans twice a year.
