Karen Petrovich paints the vistas she knows from living the true western life. In her 35 years living in the Cody, WY area, she was a ditch rider, ranch hand, truck driver, horseshoer, hunting guide and lady bull rider. Petrovich also spent eleven seasons working for the U.S. Forest Service. An injury from a car accident brought her back to art. With the help of a well-known artist in Cody, she began working hard at a career restarted late in her life.
Petrovich stated, “My paintings are of my life outdoors, where I visited, worked or hunted. I love painting landscapes. They seem to come together easily for me. I work hard at my art and hope to keep improving. I believe that a part of me comes through on the canvas when I work on a painting. I constantly strive to capture what I see and smell when I come upon that special moment.”
Petrovich’s art has been featured in many magazines, on invitations, and the “Artists of the West” coffee table book.
