Elene Weege moved to Stevensville, MT from Wisconsin in 1998, after retiring from a medical business profession to pursue a career as a full time artist. She spent five years studying art at two campuses of the University of Wisconsin as a returning student and focused on oil painting and photography. She has exhibited at the Western Heritage Annual Art Shows, Great Falls, The Montana Professional Artists Association Annual Shows, and the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies, plus many other juried and invitational art shows. Recent exhibits include the Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture, Bozeman “Montana Women in Visual Arts,” the Missoula Art Museum Auction and Fund Raiser, The Yellowstone Art Museum Auction and Fund Raiser, to name a few venues. Weege’s work is in a number of private collections across the country and can be seen at Art Focus Gallery, Hamilton and Montana Art and Framing, Missoula.

Weege states, “The texture, color and light in my paintings are all immediate responses to my visual impression and painting outdoors has provided me with excitement and inspiration in the landscape. A month painting in Provence and the Canal Du Midi area of France provided my muse and sent me on an incredible art journey. With the use of the palette knife, I introduce various degrees of texture onto a variety of grounds. Recently Weege resumed painting with pastels and has enjoyed painting flowers in their natural settings. Through exploration of method and mediums, color and light, I strive to express and share a compelling scene at an ideal moment.”
