Whether you’re a seasoned runner or prefer to shamble along like a zombie, don’t miss Hoofin’ It for Hunger Sunday, Oct. 13 at Fort Keogh in Miles City. The race is being organized by the Montana Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers and USDA Fort Keogh Research Station with all proceeds going to the Montana Food Bank Network.
The race offers divisions for every level of skill: a half-marathon, 10K, 5K and one-mile. Prizes will be awarded to overall winners and winners of each age division: 19 & under, 20‐29, 30‐39, 40‐49, 50‐59, 60 and up, plus Fastest Farmer. In addition, there will be great giveaways for everyone.
A spaghetti dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12 at the Range Riders Museum in Miles City. The event is free for race registrants and race packets will be available for pick up on‐site. Friends are encouraged to come along with a free-will donation for the dinner.
On race day, registration opens at 7 a.m. The half-marathon begins at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K and 10K at 8:30 a.m. and the one-mile race at 9:30 a.m.
The pre-registration fee is $25 for the 5K and 10K, $40 for the half-marathon and a can of food for the one-mile. Race-day registration is five dollars more in each division. “This is the third year the Montana Young Farmers and Ranchers has held Hoofin’ It for Hunger and we hope to see a record crowd for the race at Fort Keogh, a wonderful venue for the event,” says MFBF YF&R Chair Peter Taylor, a Kirby rancher and runner. “The Montana Food Bank Network is a great cause, so come on out for the free spaghetti dinner and join us for the race Sunday.”
