Richland County Extension and the Richland County Health Department are pleased to offer a free, 3-week prenatal nutrition program. Living and eating healthy during pregnancy is crucial for both the mother’s and newborn’s health. A balanced diet is important to provide nutrients for the growth of the unborn, and prevent low birth weight. For mothers, a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy can also prevent excess weight gain, heartburn, nausea and infection. This new program will clear up the myths surrounding pregnancy, and provide easily understandable, research-based information. Participants will learn about:
Making healthy choices during pregnancy; Achieving a healthy amount of weight to protect the health of the baby; Protecting themselves and their baby from food-borne illnesses during pregnancy; Balanced diet and physical activity during pregnancy, and more.
Pregnant women and those trying to become pregnant are invited to participate in this new program. The 3-week program will consist of 1 ½ hour sessions on July 9th, 16th and 23rd, and will take place at the Richland County Health Department, 1201 W. Holly, #1, Sidney, MT 59270. Morning sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and evening sessions will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Snacks, beverages and childcare will be provided at each session.
Pre-registration is required by July 2nd. Interested individuals can register for either the morning or evening program. For any questions or pre-registration contact Extension Agent Ludmila Keller at 406-433-1206.
