Two separate events will take place to honor and recognize Sidney High School students for their educational efforts during the Academic Honors Social.
Freshman through seniors who maintained a 3.5 GPA for three straight quarters will be recognized as a Lion Academic Scholar by the Sidney Lions Club. Students who are Lions Scholars have received an invitation to attend so they can be recognized for their tremendous accomplishment. They will receive an award from the Lions Club, but don’t have to worry about being inducted.
Current sophomores and juniors who have filled out the Student Activity Information form and have been selected by the National Honor Society Advisory Council will be inducted into NHS during a ceremony following the Lions Scholar recognition. These sophomore and junior students were eligible to apply to become a member of NHS and turned in their information forms to be considered. The students selected have been notified and will be inducted during the social. Brief presentations by NHS officers and out-going seniors will take place prior to the induction ceremonies. NHS induction practice for current and incoming members is scheduled to take place in the Sidney High School multipurpose room Wednesday, May 15 at 7:30 a.m.
The social is to take place Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room. The entrance is located on the east side of the gym where the double doors are located. All those invited for both events are encouraged to attend. Pie and ice cream will be served.
