Travelers on the Dakota Parkway will notice a brand new and beautifully painted helicopter proudly positioned on the helipad at Mercy Medical Center. The helicopter is operated by Guardian Flight and began emergency helicopter services in Williston on Monday morning. The helicopter will provide the city of Williston and the surrounding areas with an added resource for emergency response and quick patient transportation.
The aircraft will be capable of assisting local first-responders, EMS, fire, and law-enforcement by responding to motor vehicle accidents, oil field injuries, and any other scene response needs as well as helipad-to-helipad patient transportation. The capabilities of this helicopter are a perfect fit for the altitude and terrain of the region. The same model of aircraft broke records when a standard production helicopter landed on the top of Mount Everest in 2005.
Guardian Flight is excited to begin responding to emergency needs and transporting patients from Western North Dakota and Eastern Montana. “The B3e is a reliable and safe aircraft and we have taken our time in hiring and training the very best flight personnel for this program,” said Shanon Pollock, Guardian Flight’s Vice President.
Mercy Medical Center is pleased to partner with Guardian Flight to provide this new service to Williston and the surrounding communities. “The helicopter service will be able to fly to remote locations where emergency evacuation is needed and transfer a patient to Mercy Medical Center for rapid treatment, saving transport time and improving patient care,” said Matt Grimshaw, Mercy Medical Center President.
