On Thursday, March 21, the Watford City Area Chamber of Commerce, QEP and MBI held their annual ‘Pick up the Patch’ meeting at the Outlaws Board Room in Watford City to coordinate Pick up the Patch 2013.
Pick up the Patch is a community-wide effort to cleanup debris left behind once the winter snow melts in the Watford City and surrounding areas. It’s a great opportunity for people and businesses to come together and show their community support and a great opportunity to meet your neighbors.
This year’s ‘Pick up the Patch’ will begin on Saturday, June 1st and continue throughout the week to enable those people or businesses that are unable to help on a weekend but are willing to help, do so.
The Civic Center in Watford City will be the check in spot on Saturday morning. Here you will be able to obtain water, maps, gloves and a vest. It’ll also be a great place to meet with your team and coordinate your efforts. Families with children are welcome to help out but will be assigned to the parks, walking paths, schools, fishing ponds, etc.
Target Logistics will be providing lunch to all volunteers on Saturday from 12:30 – 2:00pm and dinner from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.
Power Fuels will be donating water to all of the volunteers and Absorbent & Safety Solutions will be donating the gloves and vests to use for the trash pickup.
The DOT will be providing the trash bags and picking the bags up from along the highways and disposing of them. Power Fuels has also offered to pick bags up from along the ditches.
Donations are still needed for Hand sanitizers and a First Aid Kit. Please contact Laura or Justin if you’d like to donate either of these items.
Members of the Chamber would like to thank the following companies/individuals for attending the meeting and to say thank you to each of them for their strong, continued support:
TargetLogistics, Absorbent & Safety Solutions, MBI, Power Fuels, Whiting, QEP, Clean Harbor, McKenzie County Social Services, Kristin Bolken of the Benefit Fund of McKenzie County Health Care Systems, Justin Smith from the City of Watford City and Laura Sanford, Exc.
