Get Ready For Fun In Your RV

Be prepared for fun! That’s the advice from Dutch Deick, manager at Coates RV in Williston. Making sure your RV is properly maintained and ready for travel can prevent something catastrophic when you’re camping.

Providing the RV has been properly winterized, some simple tasks should make your RV ready for a weekend at the lake. Flush water lines, sanitize the water system, charge the batteries, fill the propane and plug in the unit to make sure everything works as it should. Lights, jacks, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers should also be checked. A thorough roof inspection is critical to detect any leaks or water damage. Check the tires and brakes and repack the wheel bearings if needed. Also check out the window, door and slide-out seals which can deteriorate after a winter in storage.

Check for any recalls, especially if you are not the original owner.

Restock items such as toilet chemicals and other necessities. The first trip out usually reminds you of things like can openers that you may have forgotten.
