The Sidney High School Speech and Drama Team was in Havre, MT Saturday, Jan. 26th for the Class A State Meet. A number of the team members did well, including Kalen Hance who proved he was a force to be reckoned with. Hance was undefeated all season, and claimed State Champion in Extemp. Heather McDonald took 7th in Memorized Public Address, which is pretty good considering it is her first season with the team. Quite a few members made state semi-finalists including Tess Ler and Jesse Staffanson in Serious Duo, John Elmore in Serious Solo, Emily Schaff in Humorous Solo, Michael Waddell in Impromptu Speaking, Tori Hill in MPA, and Lane Lyseng in Extemporaneous Speaking. Not only did the team members receive acknowledgements, Coach Gail Staffanson was also voted Eastern A Speech Coach of the Year. Overall, it was a productive trip to state for the Speech and Drama Team.
