Sidney Girls Basketball Senior Night

The Sidney High School Girls’ Basketball Team held their Senior Night Friday, February 1st. Seniors, with their parents, were acknowledged for their accomplishments and dedication to the team. This year’s team consisted of four seniors including: Morgan Thiel, Krista Steinbeisser, Colleen Crosby, and Elise Torgerson.

Coach Jace Sullivan had the following to say about the four girls:

Morgan Thiel sets a goal and is not satisfied until she reaches it. She is strong willed and knows that she can do anything if she sets her mind to it. Her grades, skills in athletics, and involvement in other extracurricular activities are all examples of her drive. Her will to work and not give up until she is satisfied with the result is reflected in the team’s desire to strive for excellence.

Krista Steinbeisser puts others first all the time. If there are people struggling to catch on in practice or simply shooting without a rebounder, Krista is the first person to lend a helping hand. Her basketball sense, coupled with her willingness to share with others has helped make each person better as the year has progressed. The unselfish play and “team first” attitude is reflected in the team’s ability to play unselfishly.

Colleen Crosby has an unbelievable ability to face adversity. She can get knocked down and get right up ready to get back to work. She has a fearless attitude, but she is one of the smaller players on the court almost every game. If she gets pushed down or bumped around by the bigger girls on the court, she always gets back up. When practice starts to get tough and the team starts to drag a little, she often pushes forward with her tough attitude and keeps the team going.

Elise Torgerson has a beautiful shot, and it is not by accident. She was the most consistent and dedicated player this offseason. She didn’t just show up to the weight room and gym; she brought energy and focus every day. She makes an effort to get a little better every time she gets to the gym and pays attention to details. She knows that to get something you need to give something first. Paying attention to details and working at doing the small things right are a focus of the team. Elise’s willingness to do things right is reflected in the team’s desire to follow her diligence.
