Watford City Chamber Hires New Executive Director

The Watford City Area Chamber of Commerce has evaluated their programs and events to make positive changes for our growing community. To accomplish these changes the Chamber board has hired Laura Sanford as the new executive director for the Watford City Area Chamber of Commerce. Sanford, a Mandan, ND graduate, is married to Watford City native Steve Sanford. They moved to Watford City in May of 1998. They have three children; Alexis is sophomore in college, Brooke is a junior in high school and Levi is a fourth grader.

Sanford will head up the Chamber’s efforts to get memberships and encourages the businesses and their employees to get involved and participate in the activities of the Chamber. As with anything in life, the more you put into the chamber, the more you will get out of it. There are so many opportunities available to get involved in the chamber. We have many sub-committees such as Government Affairs, Promotion & Retail, Beautification and Education Committee to name a few. The two biggest events the Chamber puts on and Ribfest & Homefest . We are continually looking for new volunteers to keep these functions running.

Sanford is excited about her new roll. “I can’t wait to get out and meet businesses and their employees,” stated Sanford. “Our goal is to have a store front, so people can easily visit us,” Sanford continued. She will also continue to work with long time chamber executive secretary Mary Gumke as well as the board members and member businesses.

Sanford has already begun to integrate new businesses and individuals into the Watford City community since she started on Jan. 4. The Chamber is a great way to network with other businesses in our community. On Feb. 5th the chamber will be having their first Network Luncheon starting at 11:30 at the Fox Hills Golf course. The networking luncheon will be held the first Tuesday of every month at 11:30 am.

Currently the Chamber office is located at 100 North Main Street, Suite 2 which is located in the basement of First International Bank & Trust. For more information call the Chamber office at 701-580-1493 or email Sanford at [email protected].
