Course Available on Montana’s Oil Boom

MSU’s Department of Earth Sciences presents a 10-week course; topics include the geology of eastern Montana, the nature of oil and gas deposits, the technology of exploration and development of oil fields, and the socio-economic impacts of the oil boom in eastern Montana. MSU Earth Sciences students will participate on campus; non-credit students from throughout Montana and beyond are encouraged to participate via live web conferencing software. This course has no prerequisites and community members are encouraged to join us. Classes start January 15 – March 26 (10 sessions total; no class March 19) Tuesday evenings, 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Join in live from any location with broadband internet; sessions will be archived in case you can’t join live. Course is $50 per individual or $100 per site license, CEUs or OPI renewal units for teachers are available; contact Extended University for details.
