Connie Wold’s memory will go on forever in the hearts of all those she knew, but now her dream of a wellness center for the entire family is coming true. The Connie Wold Wellness Center, a 24,000 square foot facility, is expected to open on 8th St. in Watford City, ND in the winter of 2013. The center will offer aerobics, spinning, a large workout room – both cardio and strength, a walking and running path and physical therapy. It will meet the needs of youth through senior citizens and people of all fitness levels.
Connie grew up in Watford City, graduated in 1981 and was part of numerous organizations, clubs, boards and Watford City Schools. She devoted herself to physical fitness and in helping others achieve their fitness goals. “She walked the talk!” In 2009, while training for her 3rd Iron Man competition, Connie was involved in a bicycle-truck accident which tragically took her from all those who knew and loved her.
Kristen Bolken, Director of Benefit Fund of MCHS, states, “The community is behind us 100%. The new center will cost $5.4 million. We’ve received money from the county, city, Rough Rider fund and the community has donated nearly $1.5 million themselves. Our hope is to provide greater access and service to a wider range of people with the new building.”
They are only $300,000 short of meeting their goal of $5.4 million. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Kristen at 701-842-4606.
Even though Connie is no longer with us, her legacy will live on and her enthusiasm and dedication will continue to help people for many years to come.
