Sidney will soon have a full-service Mexican restaurant named El Sol de Guadalajara. Fernando Pilar and his sister, Sol, are leasing the Betania Ristorante Italiano facilities effective June 1. The Mexican restaurant will replace Betania’s, now housed in the Yellowstone Marketplace complex at 102 N. Central Ave.
Russ and Linda Wells, Betania owners, will be operating their restaurant through this Saturday, May 26. They urge anyone with outstanding gift certificates to utilize them right away. El Sol de Guadalajara will be opening soon.
Pilar is no stranger to Sidney. He had made arrangements to purchase the Triangle Nite Club before the restaurant burned down recently. Pilar is currently associated with Don Pedros, a Mexican restaurant in Williston.
Wells said the change to the new restaurant tenant fits right in with his original plans for the Yellowstone Marketplace. “Two years ago I tried to get someone to invest in a restaurant at the location. With no takers at that time, I opened my own Italian restaurant. Due to health problems, I recently advertised it for rent and had four entities interested.”
Wells has a full house at the Yellowstone Marketplace. “Right now, I will have one main floor opening as Big Sky Embroidery Post moves to their new building they purchased from the former Candy Bouquet owners.” He added, “We had always hoped we would be a good incubator location for stores to get started and then build or move to other locations as they prospered. These girls have done just that.”
Wells is in the process of renovating the lower level of the Marketplace into offices and businesses. Half the lower level will house the District II Alcohol and Drug Program with nine offices and a conference room. Three businesses will also be located in the lower level. One office area is still available for rent.
