Henry M. “Hank” Gabel, 67, Lander, WY, died at the Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton, WY, Monday, April 23, 2012.
According to his wishes, no services will be held.
Henry Michael Gabel was born in Sidney, MT, on Oct. 28, 1944, the son of Conrad and Lydia (Bieber) Gabel. He grew up on a farm at Savage, MT, attending school in Savage.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on May 22, 1962, as an E-1.
Gabel worked as a surveyor in the oil fields of the energy industry. He worked from Montana to Texas and back, following the oil boom. He founded the Straight Line, Inc. Company.
He worked in many Midwestern states and on the sugarbeet farms of the Worland area until retiring from that in his mid-50s. He settled in Lander, WY, in 2006.
He was married to Terra Wagner on June 10, 1967, in Savage. Two daughters were born to that union. They divorced in 1985.
His family said Gabel enjoyed being outdoors, going fishing, prospecting for gold, going for drives, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Carrie Lefforge and her husband Steve, Riverton; and Michelle Parker, Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Coale Gabel, McKenzie Becker and her husband Ty, Sky Lefforge, Sydni Parker, Taelor Parker, Johnny Montoya, Molly Montoya and Mia Montoya; a sister, Alma Schmierer, Billings, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Monte and Harold; two sisters, Irene “Tootsie” Stordahl and Edna Hoon, and a twin brother at birth.
Memorials may be made to the Help for Health Hospice Home, in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main St., Riverton, WY 82501.
