Meg-A-Latte
Meg-A-Latte, where the service is sweet and the coffee, tea and treats are sweeter, owner Megan Wold has been open just shy of three months and has already found herself in a great spot; lots of loyal customers who come to sit in her well appointed coffee lounge. Growing up in Williston, she adds this about her idea. “I just loved the atmosphere of a coffee shop, I wanted to make one my own and I thought we needed another place for people to come relax and hang out.”
With tables at bar height, café style and lots of couches and chairs, guests are also offered many options for drinks and indulgences. There is free high speed internet and plenty of fellowship as the large brick fireplace adds warmth to the ambiance. On the walls are many pictures featuring abstract metal art provided by her talented husband Eddie. These are for sale and zoom right out the door; their wide appeal keeps fresh artwork on the wall as he appears to sell them as quickly as Megan hangs them.
Another idea is open mic, occurring on the second Saturday of every month, this time Saturday, May 12th. Meg-A-Latte draws on local talent and even those from abroad as word has gotten out. Musicians are asked to sign up as space and time are managed. Past events have been very successful.
The shop and its design came from Megan’s own history as a coffee shop manager which she did while in college in Fargo. “I’ve always loved doing interior decorating, so I drew on that.” Her father-in-law, owner of Get-R-Done Construction, understood her concept and together, the design followed the passion of the entire family. Relatives are all around her and the building is owned by her father and brother. To the east, her sister-in-law manages the Interstate Engineering firm and to the west, her father manages Northwestern Mutual.
Employees have come from within too as her best friend, Casan, and others work the barista bar and she has filled 5 of 7 available slots, only needing two more employees to be completely comfortable.
The store is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 5:00 pm. She is located at 204 13th st. W. with a large sandwich board advertisement pointing drivers on busy 2nd street in the right direction. You can “like” her business on Face Book under Meg-A-Latte Coffee House, where you can write a custom review while you sit enjoying your own Mega-latte.
