Downtown Bistro Opens In Fairview

Alicia Dahl and her sons Parker, 19, and Connor, 17, have transformed the former T&C Diner, Fairview, into the very comfortable and welcoming Downtown Bistro. Come in dressed in field clothes, business clothes or shorts and flip flops. Relax on a sofa or chair, savor a great cup of coffee and take advantage of free WI-FI, or enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch and fresh homemade baked goods.

Alicia states her top three priorities as providing good service and fresh, delicious food in a clean environment. All three Dahls are trained baristas. Every pot of coffee features freshly ground beans and a new, expensive water filtration system helps ensure that customers receive a great cup of coffee every time.

“I’m very picky about coffee beans,” Alicia said. They are currently testing several varieties to see which one they prefer.

Breakfast is served from 6-10:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 a.m. until closing. Choose from breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and weekly specials. Lunch offerings include panini, sub sandwiches and soups.

They will be adding more side dishes soon, such as pasta salad, BBQ beans, spinach artichoke dip and bruschetta. Salads, Italian sodas and frappuccinos will be added this spring.

Alicia is always looking for the best meats, breads and cheeses. Meats are sliced fresh every morning, all sauces and soups are homemade and there are no preservatives or additives in her food.

Alicia stressed that the venture has truly been a group effort. “Without family and friends, we couldn’t have, and can’t do it,” she said. She also praised Richland Federal Credit Union and loan officer Nancy Verschoot for all their assistance with her business loan. Richland Economic Development also provided funds through their revolving loan fund. “They were both wonderful to work with,” Alicia stated.

Downtown Bistro is open Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-2 p.m.

“We want to do a good job, and those are the hours we feel we can handle right now. At some point, we would like to add Saturday and evening hours as well,” Alicia explained. The space is available to rent for private functions and business meetings, and Dahls would cater evening events. They are also looking forward to some open mic nights and other special events. Watch for their grand opening soon. Downtown Bistro can be reached at 406-742-5060. Call-in orders are welcome.
