The Sidney-Richland County Library recently added seven exciting new backpacks of learning games and toys to their collection, designed especially for parents with young children. If you have a young child in your life, whether you are a babysitter, parent, grandparent, or even daycare provider, you will want to check out the school readiness backpacks at Your Library. The backpacks include puzzles, games, books and toys that can help your kids learn important concepts like the alphabet, numbers, colors, animals, healthy habits, nutrition and fine motor skills. They are great for kids aged 2-5, and anybody with a library card can check them out for two weeks at a time. Early reviews have been positive, and the kids are especially excited. After all, how often do you get to check out toys from the Library?
The backpacks are part of the Library’s on-going partnership with the Richland County Family Resource Center, and were paid for using funds from the Parade of Trees auction. In addition to the backpacks, the Family Resource Center has also provided the library with a selection of brand new chunky puzzles, perfect for little hands while the adults browse for books, or work on the computer. They’re also fun to do as a family while you hang out in the kid’s section! The Family Resource Center has also helped the library acquire books, DVDs and books on tape about all kinds of topics affecting families, from ideas for a family fun night, to how to help everyone cope with loss or changes.
The Sidney-Richland County Library and Family Resource Center want every family in Richland County to have the resources they need to learn and grow as a family. If you have any questions about the backpacks, parenting classes, or other resources, contact Nicole Hackley at 406-433-4097. The Family Resource Center is funded in part by the Montana Children’s Trust Fund.
