Sidney’s Christmas Stroll “The 12 Days of Christmas” Set For Friday In Sidney

The Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture will kick off the Christmas season in style on Friday, Nov. 25.

Scheduled events include kid’s cookie decorating, pony rides, soup contest, good shopping opportunities, visiting with Santa, enjoying live entertainment and watching the evening parade of lights.

There will be all kinds of activities, and food vendors from 4-7 p.m. Some stores will be open before dawn to serve customers and all stores will have extended shopping hours.

The day’s special events begin at 2:30 p.m. with the arrival of Santa making a grand entrance on one of Sidney’s fire trucks. He will then meet with children at the Yellowstone Marketplace, 102 N Central Ave., from 3-5:30 p.m. Photos will be taken by Picture Perfect (8x10, $10; 5x7, $7).

A new event this year will be the Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge in the lot next to the fire hall at the corner of 3rd St. SE and 2nd Ave. SE. The event is sponsored by the Richland County Law Enforcement Torch Run with proceeds going to benefit Special Olympics.

The Sidney Jaycees will be providing children’s activities at the former Sidney Electric, East Main, from 3-6 p.m. There will be cookie decorating, crafts and face painting.

KC’s Miniature Horse Rides will be giving pony rides in the lot across from Restorx from 4-6:30 p.m. The extremely popular Soup Contest will be across the street in the Restorx building.

Live entertainment will be provided from 5-6 p.m. on East Main.

The Parade of Trees Auction will be held at the Village Square Mall from 6-7 p.m. There are decorated trees and more to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Richland County, Family Resouce Center, BPA and Key Club.

The annual Parade of Lights will start at 7 p.m. at the Reynolds/Pamida parking lot and end at Reese & Ray’s IGA parking lot. Awards will be given for “Best Use of Theme, Best Use of Lights and Judge’s Choice.

Reese & Ray’s IGA will hand out candy bags from Santa after the parade.

Christmas extended shopping hours are Sundays, beginning Dec. 4, from noon-4 p.m. and Dec. 19-23 stores will be open until 7 p.m.
