The fifth annual NILE Ranch Rodeo Finals were held Oct. 19 in the Rimrock Auto Arena, MetraPark. This year’s rodeo had teams qualifying at six sanctioned rodeos from around the region competing head-to-head. Hailing from the states of Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and North Dakota the teams were S Ranch, Reid Ranch, Criss/Double 4 Ranch, the Cook Ranch, the Reversed EV, the Harrington Ranch, Sperry/Reid Horse & Cattle Co, Nelson Ranch, Swenson/Martin Horse & Cattle Co, M Triple T, Sand Creek Cattle Co and Hyche/Starkson Ranch.
This one of a kind rodeo featured working ranch activities including bronc riding, team trailering, team branding, team doctoring and wild cow milking.
Top three teams were: 1. Sperry/Reid Horse & Cattle Co., Poplar; 2. Reid Ranch of Firth, ID; 3. Swenson/Martin Horse & Cattle Co., Beulah, ND
Additionally, the Top Horse award went to “Purple” ridden by KC Verhelst, S Ranch, Pryor, MT. The Top Hand award was awarded to Robert Sperry, Sperry Reid Horse & Cattle Co, Poplar. The Top Horse received a custom cowboy hat by Dorer’s Hatmaker and the Top Hand received a custom saddle made by Vaquero Saddlery.
