Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks reminds parents of young hunters that a special two-day deer hunt for youth ages 12-15 is set this year for Oct. 20-21.
The two-day deer hunt for resident and nonresident youngsters is a great opportunity for our youth,” said Ron Aasheim. “The FWP Commission approved the hunt to encourage young people to participate in deer hunting with a parent or hunting mentor.”
Aasheim said young hunters ages 11-15 may hunt deer statewide with a general or deer B license. They are eligible to take the deer species and sex otherwise available on that general or deer B license in the specific hunting district the young person hunts in.
A non-hunting adult at least 18 years of age must accompany the young hunter in the field. The shooting hours, hunter safety requirements and all other regulations that apply in a regular deer firearm season apply during the special two-day youth deer season.
