The Eastern Agricultural Research Center (EARC) will host its annual field day on Tuesday, July 26 beginning at 8:30 a.m. with rolls and coffee. As in past years, the tour will begin in the north parking lot at the USDA/ ARS building.
Tour stops include value added durum research information presented by Dr. Joyce Eckhoff, along with a spring wheat variety and development discussion presented by Dr. Luther Talbot, Montana State University. Russ Fullmer will discuss sugarbeet varieties and the sugarbeet outlook for this year, and Dr. Barry Jacobsen, Montana State University, will talk about diseases in sugarbeets, safflower and spring wheat.
Other topics will include a talk by Dr. Charles Flynn outlining the lab facilities in the new EARC and Extension facility, a talk by a representative from the USDA/ARS on irrigated cropping systems, and a discussion on safflower production and alternate crops.
The morning tour will end with a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the new EARC and Extension facility.
All those in attendance will then have the opportunity to stay for lunch and visit with the presenters to ask additional questions or to make comments.
The EARC staff invites all interested people to attend this year’s annual field day and find out what’s happening with the test plots and what researchers have learned about various crops.
