The Richland County Family Resource Center wants to help give parents tools, tips and suggestions to help make parenting their teens a little bit easier. Starting July 11, the Family Resource Center will be offering the Active Parenting of Teens parenting classes for parents with teenage kids. Classes run every Monday for six weeks, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Sidney-Richland County Library.
Topics to be covered include struggling with independence, the risks of drugs and violence, communication, emerging sexuality and problem-solving. The classes are designed to be interactive, with group discussions and video-based learning experiences. It emphasizes character development in teens to help them survive and thrive in society, and focuses on cooperation, respect, courage, responsibility and self-esteem.
Classes will be held on July 11, July 18, July 25, Aug. 1, Aug. 8, and Aug. 15.
