North Dakota Songbirds

The James Memorial Art Center presents North Dakota Songbirds, July 5-29, 2011. This exhibition showcases wood carving as an art form. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.

The Flickertail Woodcarvers is a nonprofit group of artists that was formed in 1969. The mission of their club is to promote the art of wood carving as an art form for youngsters and adults through seminars, carving classes, displays, club meetings, demonstrations and the participation in other art activities.

Each year, in October, the club holds an annual show that attracts 3,000-4,000 area residents and out-of-state and Canadian visitors. The 2009 theme for the annual show was North Dakota Songbirds. The theme for the 2011 annual show is carousal animals.

The James Memorial Art Center is located at 621 1st Ave. W., Williston.
