Sidney native Gresh Jones has definitely made a name for himself for his wrestling achievements. After being a four-time state high school champion in Sidney, Jones was a four-time national meet qualifier at Dickinson State University. The honors earned Jones selection as one of this year's finalists for the Montana Little Sullivan Award, which is given to the state's top amateur athlete. Sidney competed in their first east of the east swim meet on June 13-14. There was a total of 42 swimmers from Sidney that competed against, Scobey, Glendive, and Plentywood. It was a great first meet with many swimmers cutting their own times by very large margins. The MHSRA Jr. High State Finals took place May 29-31 at the Richland Co. Fairgrounds in Sidney. Richland Ranger PeeWees competed at the PeeWee B Silver NDAHA State Tournament in Grafton, ND, March 6-8. The Rangers beat Crosby Blue 9-3 to win the state championship. This year the Brodie Gorder Memorial Tournament was held Feb. 28 - 29 at the Sidney High School. The Sidney Wrestling Club has been building an amazing memorial tournament here in eastern Montana. This tournament is in memory of a very special wrestler, Brodie Gorder, son of Lisa and Shane Gorder. He lost his life at only 8 years old in a 4-wheeler accident on their ranch. On the request of tournament coaches, the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture compiled an All-Tournament team from the District 2C basketball tournaments determined by a vote of coaches. Badlands Gymnastics in Watford City will be hosting their annual spring show. This year the show will be called Adventure Awaits and themed based on Disney Pixar movies.
