The Fairview Amateur Baseball Team, based out of East Fairview, finished their 41st year on top! On Saturday, Aug.16, the team won the 2020 State Class 'A' Amateur Baseball Tournament in Jamestown, ND. The 1st annual youth rodeo, Spinnin’ Pole Arena Playday, is set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. This event will take place at 12481 21st St. NW, Watford City and will feature barrels, poles, flag race, speed race, and dummy roping. On Thursday, Aug. 20 Sidney chiropractors Ryan Laqua and Michael Fink presented the athletic department at Sidney High School with donation checks for a total of $4,530 collected from their fall sports physicals. It was great weekend for the Sidney Tiger Sharks in our home water. We hosted the 2020 Covid Classic in which the top 8 East of the East versed the top 8 East of the West. The kids were shaving time in big ways and it was hard to keep up with where they would place. The Sidney Girls Basketball team participated in the 13th Annual Dawson Community College High School Basketball Tourney from June 19-21 in Glendive. The Sidney Girls Softball team participated in three U18 traveling softball tournaments in Billings at the Stewart Park Complex. These tournaments were held on May 29-30, June 6-7 and June 13-14 and consisted of All-Star teams from Billings, Great Falls, Gillette, WY, and other teams from other areas. Sidney native Gresh Jones has definitely made a name for himself for his wrestling achievements. After being a four-time state high school champion in Sidney, Jones was a four-time national meet qualifier at Dickinson State University. The honors earned Jones selection as one of this year's finalists for the Montana Little Sullivan Award, which is given to the state's top amateur athlete. Sidney competed in their first east of the east swim meet on June 13-14. There was a total of 42 swimmers from Sidney that competed against, Scobey, Glendive, and Plentywood.
