    The Sidney Eagle varsity golf team hosted the top ranked team in the state, the Laurel Locomotives, for a dual on Thursday, Sept. 12. Due to lightning, thunder, rain, and winds the players were called off the course twice, and therefore play was suspended for the day. Only two Sidney players were able to finish all 18 holes.     The Sidney Eagle cross-country team traveled to Beulah, ND, for the Beulah-Hazel Invitational meet on Friday, Sept. 13. Congratulations to Carter Heggum who placed first in the competition for the varsity boys, and to Ryleigh Kleinke who placed second for the varsity girls.     The 2024 edition of "The War in Watford" saw two nights of near-capacity attendance at The Rough Rider Center, where fans from across the region took in the exciting pre-season matchup between heated NAHL rivals, the Bismarck Bobcats and Minot Minotauros.     The Sidney Eagle Cross Country team competed in Williston on Friday, Sept. 6. Coach Stacey Collins said. “Today was a great day to be an Eagle! Almost every kid had a season best, some by over two minutes!” Ryleigh Kleinke led the varsity girls with a 12th place finish by running a 20:24.     The Sidney Eagle golf team traveled to Glendive on Friday, Sept. 6 for a dual against the Red Devils. The dual started at 9 a.m. at the Cottonwood Country Club. Sidney had 23 golfers competing and Glendive had 25. Therefore, two of the Sidney Eagle players had to play two matches at the same time.     On Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 26-27, the Sidney Eagle golf team participated in the Billings invitational meet. After day one, the Eagle boys had a team score of 332.     The first annual Sidney Tennis Tournament is currently underway. It began Aug. 11 and goes until Sept. 29. Matches take place at the tennis courts which are located by the skate park.
