The Sidney Eagle varsity golf team hosted the top ranked team in the state, the Laurel Locomotives, for a dual on Thursday, Sept. 12. Due to lightning, thunder, rain, and winds the players were called off the course twice, and therefore play was suspended for the day. Only two Sidney players were able to finish all 18 holes. The 2024 edition of "The War in Watford" saw two nights of near-capacity attendance at The Rough Rider Center, where fans from across the region took in the exciting pre-season matchup between heated NAHL rivals, the Bismarck Bobcats and Minot Minotauros. The Sidney Eagle golf team traveled to Glendive on Friday, Sept. 6 for a dual against the Red Devils. The dual started at 9 a.m. at the Cottonwood Country Club. Sidney had 23 golfers competing and Glendive had 25. Therefore, two of the Sidney Eagle players had to play two matches at the same time. The 2024 Fairview Warrior football season got off to a bang on Thursday evening, Aug. 29. The new Sidney head football coach, Jace Schillinger, grew up playing sports in Baker, MT. He graduated high school in 2000. From there, he played football while attending Dickinson State University, graduating in 2005. His coaching career began at Billings Central, then led back to Dickinson State. On Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Sidney High School Golf team opened their season by hosting the Sidney Triangular Golf Tournament at the Sidney Country Club. The first annual Sidney Tennis Tournament is currently underway. It began Aug. 11 and goes until Sept. 29. Matches take place at the tennis courts which are located by the skate park.
