    Another weekend of some great swimming from the Sidney Tiger Sharks. They had a group of seven and 1/3 swimmers go to Roundup; the 1/3 being they were only able to swim 1 race because of other commitments. The majority of the age group swimmers had fantastic swims both days and cut some great times. The Sharks are rolling through the season with what seems to be very quickly. Harlem is this coming weekend and then Sidney will have its own meet July 8-9....

  • Team Hoops Basketball Camp June 26-28

    The first Team Hoops basketball camp will be June 26-28. This is for all basketball players entering grades 5- 12, and will be held at the Sidney High School. To sign up, contact your basketball coaches or the Sidney school administration office. The 5-8 grade will be from 8 a.m.-noon, and 9-12 grade from 1-4 p.m. Please bring your own basketball. Cost is $80 for 5-8 grades and $100 for 9-12 grades. Checks can be made to the Lady Eagle summer basketball program.     Former Sidney resident, Cye Franzen, recently was crowned Texas Junior High State Champion Bronc Rider and Rookie of the Year. I caught up with him on the road to Nationals in Perry, GA. For his wins in Texas; Franzen took home a saddle, eight buckles, and several other prizes.     The Richland County Patriots played the Laurel Dodgers on Monday, June 12 in Laurel. Due to rain delays the games did not get done until midnight. They lost the first game 3 - 13 and the second game 8 - 18. On Father's Day, June 18, they hosted the Glendive Blue Devils. The first game the Patriots were ahead 8 to 0, but ended up losing 12 - 14.     On Sunday, June 25, the Sidney Lions Club will be holding its 6th Annual Family Fun Trap Shoot fundraiser event. Shotgun owners from all over eastern Montana and western North Dakota are welcome to participate. The event will be held at the Sidney Trap Club Range, 12598 Hwy. 16 North. Registration is $35 per person from 8 a.m.-10:30 am.     The Tiger Sharks had a meet in Scobey this weekend. They brought 17 swimmers to Scobey to compete. Despite their small numbers the Sharks took home 2nd place. Two Sharks Braya Radke and Beckett Norby took home the high point trophy in their age groups.
