The Tiger Sharks had a great showing of 75 athletes in Glendive. They had many race for the first time and a large majority of the athletes made it to Sunday which allowed their team to score over 1300 points!!! They took home 1st in the meet and in overall relays. High point winners this meet were 1st timer Ryan Unruh for the boys 8 and under division. The Sidney Sharks entered the Shark Tank for our 2016 meet and the sharks were fierce in the water. We had around 84 swimmers swim, some for the very first time this season. They took first in the relays and first overall for the meet. Over 95% of the swimmers swimming got personal records. We had a few high point winners, Ryan Unruh in the boys 8 and over, Aren Larson in boys 9-10 year olds, Hadley Garsjo, and Ashlynn Kessell tied for high point in the 13-14 age group. Aubrey Kessel will be joining the Montana State University track and field team for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. She will be competing in the Pole Vault for the Bobcats. Aubrey had an outstanding career in the pole vault for the Sidney Eagles, finishing 7th, 4th, 2nd and 1st in her four years at the Montana State Championships. Aubrey is a 2016 graduate of Sidney High School where she graduated Valdictorian with a 4.00 GPA. She plans on majoring in Bioengineering....
The weekend of July 2nd and 3rd the Sidney Tiger Sharks took 30 athletes to Glasgow. Among the group of 30 were 2 athletes who had never competed before and 1 who finally made it across the 25 meters to gain a time. The Richland Patriots won both double headers with the Glasgow Reds this past Wednesday and Thursday night. Thursday was also Senior night. The Pats will travel to Watford City on July 11th and will play their last home game on July 13th against the Billings Cardinals....
Kory Halvorson was "Mr. Walk-off" as he connected for a homer to end the first game and a single to win the second game as the Patriots swept the Billings Blue Jays June 22. The first game was deadlocked at 4-4 until Halvorson hit the ball over the left-field fence in the bottom of the seventh inning for the victory. State championships were earned by both Sidney's U19 and U15 soccer squads during the state cup June 11-12. The U19 squad opened action with a 6-0 shutout over Red Lodge. The Richland County Patriots won three of eight games during a swing around the Billings area last week. The Patriots fell short in the first game against the Billings Blue Jays on June 14 by an 11-6 margin. The Blue Jays outscored Richland by an 8-1 margin during the opening four innings. Shane and Lisa Gorder have earned national praise as the Richland County couple received the Friend of AAU award from the National AAU Wrestling Committee during the Disney Duals in Orlando, Fla. State championship efforts in the pole vault and a strong overall showing by Michael McGinnis highlighted Sidney's performance at the Class A state track meet. Behind outstanding pitching, the Richland County Patriots won both games of a home double-header against Glendive June 1.
