The Divisional Swim Meet was held in Sidney, Saturday, July 29 and Sunday July 30. The Sidney Tiger Sharks had 3 high point winners: Corben Holler, Morgan Kindopp, and Hadley Garsjo. The Tiger Sharks swam this weekend in Glendive. The heat wave could not stop the sharks. They showed up ready to compete. We took 50 swimmers with us and all but 4 made it to Sunday. We had 6 take high points for their age groups: Torey Dahl 15-19, Hadley Garsjo 13-14, Seth Dodds 13-14, Marrett Schieber 9-10, Corben Holler 9-10, Morgan Kindopp 8 and under. It was a great racing weekend for the Tiger Sharks in Plentywood. We took a total of 52 swimmers to Plentywood and they swam very well. For some, it was the first race of the season and others have been going to each race focusing on shaving time. The team swam well cutting times on both Saturday and Sunday. Last weekend a small number of Sidney Tiger Sharks headed up to Malta for their swim meet. We took 12 swimmers who worked very hard to make it to Sunday. All but two made it to Sunday in at least one event and many made it in all. Morgan Kindopp set a pool record on Saturday with her 25 free and then again on Sunday breaking her own record with a 16.8 and coming close to the federation record. The Sidney Tiger Sharks had a great weekend in Glasgow. We took a total of 41 swimmers to compete and came away with the 1st place trophy. Getting high point this weekend in the 13-14 division was Hadley Garsjo, in the 9-10 division was Corben Holler and in the 8 and under division was Morgan Kindopp. All sharks swam their fins off to put us in 1st place as Lewistown and Scobey had brought the same amount of swimmers. The Sidney Tiger Sharks competed this weekend in Chinook. We brought 30 swimmers, some who had never swam before and some veterans. The team competed hard and many shaved time both Saturday and Sunday. Overall the team brought home the 3rd place trophy. The Sidney Tiger Shark's came home with a third place trophy from the Scobey meet on June 10-11. Torey Dahl brought home high point winner for girls 15-19 taking 1st in all her events. The swimmers had a lot of adversity their first week of swim team with only two pool practices before the pump went out. The 6th softball tournament to honor the lives of Sherry Arnold and Janae Moore will be held on Saturday, June 17th, at the South Meadow Softball Complex in Sidney. The first tournament was held in 2012 to celebrate the life of Sherry Arnold, a long-time softball player and coach. In 2014, the name of the tournament was changed to include Janae Moore, a young Sidney resident and avid softball player. The Sidney High School boys track team came home champions from the Montana State Class A track meet held in Laurel May 26 & 27. The boys were escorted through town Sunday morning by the fire truck, ambulance and police. The last time the Sidney boys brought home a state championship was in 1959.
