    Mackenzie Sparby of Watford City, ND recently signed a letter of intent with the University of Jamestown. The University offered her a four-year scholarship, and she will begin classes in the fall of 2017.     The team sign-up for the Sidney 5th and 6th grade tackle football is Aug. 15, 16 and 17, 5:30-7 p.m., at Lyndale Park. For new players you must bring a copy of your birth certificate.     There were over 560 swimmers competing for State championship records and we brought a total of 46 to compete. Saturday was hot, but the majority of our swimmers cut time off their best and placed themselves up from where they were seeded. This allowed for a rowdy, yelling Sunday as we were working to dominate in the water. Tiger Sharks who made it to Sunday all were swimming their hardest and cut even more time against some very tough competitors.     The Sidney Tiger Sharks competed in Malta this weekend for Divisionals. They had 55 swimmers after having to scratch some for injuries that had occurred prior to the meet. It was a rough start to the day on Saturday as many of the swimmers were adding time with the change in pool and nervousness of being at Divisionals. I asked them to dig deep and swim for the team, as we needed everyone’s points to be successful.     The Tiger Sharks had a great showing of 75 athletes in Glendive. They had many race for the first time and a large majority of the athletes made it to Sunday which allowed their team to score over 1300 points!!!     The Sidney Sharks entered the Shark Tank for our 2016 meet and the sharks were fierce in the water. We had around 84 swimmers swim, some for the very first time this season. They took first in the relays and first overall for the meet. Over 95% of the swimmers swimming got personal records. We had a few high point winners, Ryan Unruh in the boys 8 and over, Aren Larson in boys 9-10 year olds, Hadley Garsjo, and Ashlynn Kessell tied for high point in the 13-14 age group.     Aubrey Kessel will be joining the Montana State University track and field team for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. She will be competing in the Pole Vault for the Bobcats. Aubrey had an outstanding career in the pole vault for the Sidney Eagles, finishing 7th, 4th, 2nd and 1st in her four years at the Montana State Championships.     The weekend of July 2nd and 3rd the Sidney Tiger Sharks took 30 athletes to Glasgow. Among the group of 30 were 2 athletes who had never competed before and 1 who finally made it across the 25 meters to gain a time.
