On Jan. 22 a 2020 Kubota M5, driven by Lester LaDue, Trenton, ND, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 1804 at slow speed approximately 1 mile west of Trenton, ND. The Sidney Area Dollars for Scholars program has been assisting graduates of Sidney High School with scholarships since its inception in 1991. The key organizer of this chapter was Paul Johnson. Our chapter has awarded scholarships to 1,001 students totaling $607,150. In 1992, student scholarship amounts were $300. In the early morning of Friday, Dec. 22, two individuals were seen outside a business in Sidney attempting to steal some copper wire. They pulled up behind the business in a white four-door car. The wire they attempted to take was heavy gauge, and the potential thieves were unsuccessful in cutting any away. Sunday, Dec. 24, at 4:11 a.m., a company-owned work truck was reported stolen from the Holiday gas station on 8th Ave., Watford City. It has since been recovered. Early bird concert tickets for the 2024 Richland County Fair and Rodeo went on sale Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, just in time for Christmas.
