The official results are now in for our fall event held Sept. 7-8 in Sidney where MonDak businesses and residents recycled another 16,213 pounds (more than 8 TONS) of electronic waste. Richland County’s first human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) has been reported for 2018 on September 10th after exposure to mosquitoes locally. The adult case was hospitalized and is now home recovering. State and local health officials are encouraging Montanans take steps to avoid mosquito bites and prevent infection with West Nile virus. BILLINGS, MT – RiverStone Health and the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services have reported the first human death this year in Montana from West Nile Virus (WNV). The death was reported in an elderly Yellowstone County male who died after a brief stay in a Billings hospital. This is the first WNV associated death in the state since 2016. Federal district court judge Brian Morris issued his summary judgment ruling in the lawsuit that threatened to end irrigation in the lower Yellowstone valley. The ruling is cause for joy and celebration with caution. The ruling is a solid win for our community.
