BILLINGS, MT – RiverStone Health and the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services have reported the first human death this year in Montana from West Nile Virus (WNV). The death was reported in an elderly Yellowstone County male who died after a brief stay in a Billings hospital. This is the first WNV associated death in the state since 2016. Federal district court judge Brian Morris issued his summary judgment ruling in the lawsuit that threatened to end irrigation in the lower Yellowstone valley. The ruling is cause for joy and celebration with caution. The ruling is a solid win for our community.
