Richland Federal Credit Union (RFCU) of Sidney and Culbertson began at a Farmers Union Oil Company meeting back in 1939. On June 29, 2019 at about 2:30 p.m. the Richland County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 21-foot boat that had overturned on the Yellowstone River near Benny Pierre Creek and CR 122. It was found that two adults and one child were boating on the river and had pulled close to the bank and attempted to retrieve something from the edge of the bank. A large part of the bank gave away onto the boat, knocking one of the adults out of the boat, and then causing the boat to overturn. The other adult and child then were trapped under the boat. Th...
The 2019 paddlefishing harvest season on the Yellowstone and Lower Missouri rivers wrapped up on June 1, condensing the harvest into a two-week window. High catch rates on May 31 heading into Memorial Day weekend prompted FWP to give notice of the harvest season closure on June 1 at 9 p.m. This accommodated paddlefishing the entire Saturday of the holiday weekend, which proved to be a busy harvest day. The agency does not accept, hold or rehabilitate deer and elk because the animals rarely survive the stress of captivity, and because of concerns with the spread of disease. Sandra LaRoque, an artist from Alexander, has been selected as this year's featured artist for the Sunrise Festival of the Arts to be held Saturday, July 13, at Veterans Memorial Park in Sidney. North Dakota's 2019 paddlefish snagging season opens May 1 and is scheduled to continue through May 21. However, depending on the overall harvest, an early in-season closure may occur with a 24-hour notice issued by the state Game and Fish Department.
