    Strip tillage, the method where only the narrow strip of land to be planted is actually tilled, is in the trial stages. With only a 4 to 6” strip disturbed, the process leaves a lot of residue on the ground, helping to reduce inputs and erosion from wind and water.     Canisters at the Richland County landfill have been closed temporarily due to the dumping of about 30 barrels of oil over two weekends. County Commissioners said the canisters will reopen on Thursday, November 9th but Commissioner Loren Young said,“If the abuse starts up again, we will consider closing them again.” The county has seen an uptick in dumping at sites in Lambert and Savage as well as at the landfill.
