The Sidney area flag football league is in need of volunteer referees for the fast-approaching 2019 season. Flag football has relied entirely on volunteer referees and coaches for nearly twenty years. The league is open for third and fourth grade students from all areas, and calls on community members to ensure the kids are able to play. On July 3 Kyle Lee Severson, 19, Sidney, was charged with deliberate homicide in the shooting death of Tyler Anthony Hayden, 20, Sidney. Severson made an initial appearance in Sidney City Court before Judge Luke Savage on July 3. Severson requested a public defender as his defense counsel. Bail was set at $2,000,000.
