In 2019, The McKenzie County Job Development Authority (JDA) started a program designed to defray infrastructure costs for qualifying housing projects in McKenzie County: The JDA Housing Development Subsidy program. So far, 42 houses have been accepted into McKenzie County JDA Housing Development Subsidy Program as of June 11. This means that $125,000 remains to be allocated out of the program funding. Starting May 13, the Long X Visitor Center, Watford City, will be hosting a family-friendly BBQ event every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. This event will reoccur every Thursday night up until July 15.
