The Bakken Rocks Cookfest, which is in its 14th year, was held again this year in Killdeer, coming full circle. The Cookfest began in 2009, being held in the towns of Killdeer and Belden that first year. Over the next 12 years there would be two Cookfest's each year in various towns around the western third of North Dakota. The Arnegard Booster Club will be hosting a 4th of July celebration at Nelson Park, Arnegard. The festivities will start bright and early, with registration for their 5K at 7:30 a.m. at the park, and the run/walk starting at 8 a.m. Registration for the parade runs from 9-10 a.m., at the fire house, with the parade beginning at 11 a.m. Following the parade, at 12:30 p.m., the Booster Club will serve smoked beef sandwiches, beans, chips, and ice cream for lunch. On June 21 on CR 30 and 133rd Ave. NW, SW of Watford City there was a fatal crash. A Honda Pioneer 1000 UTV, driven by Trenton Coy, Sidney, MT, was traveling southbound on 133rd Ave. NW. A 2020 Ford F550, driven by Travis Gudmunsen, Arnegard, ND, was traveling eastbound on CR 30. Coy failed to yield at the intersection of 133rd Ave. NW and CR 30 and was struck by the Ford. Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m., the Arnegard Park Board will be having their annual Christmas tree lighting. On that night, the people of Arnegard are welcome to come to Nelson Park with their ornaments for the 23-year-old Blue Spruce that is decorated every year.
