The Watford City Chamber of Commerce is “Celebrating a Storybook Christmas” this year for the Parade of Lights. They are looking for floats to participate in the parade, to make it fantastic this year. Richland County Schools celebrated Red Ribbon Week last week. Red Ribbon week is celebrated nationally each year during the week of November 5th-9th. RRW is a week to promote healthy choices and for kids to say no to alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Sheriff Brad Baisch went around to each school in the county and the Boys & Girls Club and talked to them about the importance of staying drug free, and handed out bracelets to the kids. Mass of the Christian Burial for Norma Kaschube, 83, of Columbus, MT, formerly of the Brockton area, was 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 16, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Father Jim O’Neil and Father Ned Shinnick. The Richland County Tavern Association was pleased to again donate 25 Thanksgiving baskets to the Salvation Army. Each basket included a turkey or chicken and all the trimmings for a delicious dinner. The RCTA also donated $500 to the Food Bank and $500 to the Domestic Violence Coalition. Richland Shrine Club of Sidney is starting its 2012 Shrine Fund drive. The overhead of the direct mail campaign; envelopes, postage, etc. are furnished by the Richland Shrine Club. Last year we gathered $7,032.05 and sent that same amount to the Shrine Hospital. Richland Shrine Club is currently sponsoring many patients in various stages of their treatment. The typical patient makes several trips to the hospital in Spokane, Salt Lake City or Minneapolis. The average hospital stay is seven to eight days, but surgery and/or treatment may be over...

The Prairie Badlands Rattlers competed and brought home a silver and bronze medal in the Montana State Special Olympics basketball tournament in Great Falls, MT November 9th and 10th. With the Parade of Trees auction coming up on November 23rd, the Sidney High School Key Club has taken the time to decorate their tree that will be up for auction.
